Mentoring
In the true spirit of helping you be you the best way possible we offer mentoring. You may wonder what we mean by mentoring. Well it is a way to support you that blends experience and wisdom of the mentor with intuition, curiosity and questioning to guide you. The process is a collaborative partnership between you and a person that genuinely wants to walk with you on your journey.
Ok, so this all sounds fluffy already doesn’t it. Not intended. The truth is we are here for you in a real way. The idea is to be both inspirational about possibilities and ‘what if’ as well as grounded and practical about day to day realities and life. We live in the same world you do.
Why mentoring then?
In our day to day life sometimes we just need an objective, compassionate, caring person to hear us. We also may need a companion of sorts to be with us in times when we need privacy and someone to confide in. Whilst friends and families are intrinsically part of our lives it is important to remember they are that - friends and family. To regularly and deeply ask questions about life, where you are at and where you are going you may want to not stretch the relationship boundaries. To redefine friend or family into therapist can change the dynamic. So mentoring provides an independent resource to help you figure out your own way without the should, could have’s and expectations.
What mentoring is through Remembering to Be Me
At Remembering to Be Me© the approach to mentoring is unique to you. Rather than apply one methodology or take you through a multi step program the approach is to simply ask the questions that help you be you. Sounds simple yet as you may know by now even one really well placed question can take you on a big journey. (Have you ever asked yourself ‘Who am I?’). There is an art to asking questions. In our view it is a combination of years of experience, a variety of skills and training plus a strong sense of intuition. It is the unique perspective of the mentor that makes each relationship different yet perfect exactly as it is. Of course you are the magic and main focus. 100% It is all about helping you.
How does Mentoring work
After many years of different approaches our way is your way. What we mean is we first gain from you what your preferred way to work is and tailor and adjust the support to suit you. It mainly consists of 1:1 consultations but can also expand to include facilitated meetings with others, activities designed for your exploration, feedback, skill practice. You name it, as long as it is ethical, mindful and in the spirit of kindness for all involved it is possible.
Location
Two ways.
Online
The easiest way is of course online. This means you can be anywhere and still get the support you need irrespective of location. Sessions are via Zoom.
In person
In person is ideal. This will work if you live nearby and are happy to meet.
The current focus of in person mentoring is in the Sydney region. As we connect with and establish a broader network of mentors there may be other locations.
If you would like to start your mentoring with Jenn you can meet in person or online.
Our mentors
The person behind Remembering to Be Me© is Jenn Shallvey. Jenn provides the initial support. As you work with Jenn to identify and explore your journey you can work with Jenn to determine what other support you might enjoy. The network of other mentors bring to you other skill sets that allow you to work through situations in different ways. All is determined by you, your interests, preferences and readiness.
